At Mespack, in close collaboration with Fuji Seal, we recently partnered with a major U.S.-based food company to deliver a complete turnkey packaging line that leverages one of the industry’s fastest-growing formats: the inverted spouted pouch.

A Response to New Packaging Demands: Inverted Spouted Pouches by Fuji Seal

One of the standout features of this project is the use of inverted spouted pouches, with the collaboration of Fuji Seal. This innovative format has rapidly become a favorite in the food industry, particularly for viscous products such as sauces, condiments, and spreads. Its benefits include:

  • Easy and controlled dispensing for consumers
  • Enhanced shelf differentiation and branding opportunities
  • Improved evacuation rates, which reduces product waste
  • Extended product freshness

In recognition of these advantages, our client wanted a packaging system capable of handling this modern format efficiently and hygienically, from pouch filling to end-of-line case packing.

Our Turnkey Approach: From Pouch to Pallet with Mespack

To meet the customer’s needs, we developed a turnkey solution centered around two key Mespack technologies:

  • HF2400 Premade Pouch Filler: A robust, hygienic machine designed to efficiently and accurately fill inverted spouted pouches through the spout. With a regular capacity of up to 122 pouches per minute, the HF2400 ensures high throughput while maintaining delicate product handling.
  • W7000Flex Wrap-Around Case Packer: A highly adaptable end-of-line machine that receives pouches directly from the filler. It performs weight and metal detection checks, and packs pouches into corrugated wrap-around cases with optimal orientation and care.

The seamless integration of these two systems creates a compact, efficient, and operator-friendly line that offers maximum productivity with minimal downtime.

Certified Hygiene: Built for the Food Industry

Packaging any food product, particularly mayonnaise and similar food, requires the highest hygiene standards. The inverted spouted pouch line includes multiple bacteria and microorganism-control features to ensure compliance with food safety regulations in the U.S. and globally. Key elements include:

  • A3 Certification: Recognized across the industry, this certification confirms that the machine meets strict hygienic design criteria.
  • CIP (Clean-In-Place) Preparation: Enables thorough automated cleaning of internal circuits without the need for disassembly.
  • Washdown Capability: Full machine washdown readiness allows the equipment to be sanitized with pressurized water.
  • Laminar Airflow and Steris Cap Disinfection: Ensures sterile handling of caps and spouts using HEPA filters and hydrogen peroxide vapor decontamination.

As contamination control is critical, these advanced hygiene systems are especially crucial in dairy-based applications such as mayonnaise.

Smart Integration and Digitalization

The inverted spouted pouch line is also equipped with Mespack Athena, our proprietary digital interface that allows operators to manage production data, run diagnostics, and switch between recipes with just a few clicks. This smart HMI improves usability and reduces training time for operators.

Furthermore, the system features remote access capabilities, thus enabling our technical team to support the customer from anywhere in the world and ensuring continuous uptime.

An edge computer, located in the machine cabinet, is responsible for collecting and sending data to the Cloud through a secure and encrypted internet connection that is stored and analyzed by Mespack Athena. All the data can be viewed from multiple devices. Worldwide, the customer can consolidate and view its machine data on a unique Mespack Athena dashboard.
